[sponsored] Absolute NY & Nicka K. NY – giveaway prizes

Goog eveening lovelies,

today I would like to show you the first products from Absolute New York and Nicka K. Ney York, which I won on facebook a few weeks ago.

won

I tried the products and was quite intruiged by their quality, which led me to ask if they would be willing to send me a wider range of products from both brands so I could test them out and give you my honest opinion.

They did send me different products for the eyes, lips, nails and skin from both brands, so you can expect several posts with reviews over the next few weeks.

If you don’t know about the brands, please check my Nicka K. NY & Absolute NY introduction – where I wrote a little bit about the brands and their history.

Today I would like to show you the products I won and which got me interested in the brands and products.

After I received these products I swatched and tried them, was wondering if I should post directly or wait for the others to arrive so I could devide the reviews into face/eye make-up; lip products; skin care; and two seperate posts about Absolute NY and Nicka K NY nail polishes.

I waited and thought it would be best for you if I divided the blog posts by subject rather then doing a MASSIVE post.

Is that okay for you?
Let me know which make-up interests you the most.

[sponsored] Douglas – Bumble and Bumble Surf shampoo, conditioner & texturizing spray

Hello lovelies,

today I would like to introduce to you a brand and review 3 of their products that are already very popular in the USA but new on the German market.

Bumble and bumble Products, LLC is one of 27 brands owned by Estée Lauder Companies, Inc.
It was founded as a New York City hair salon in 1977 by hairdresser and entrepreneur Michael Gordon. The company operates two flagship salons in Manhattan: a midtown location on East 56th Street and on the top two floors of The House of Bumble in the Meatpacking District.

I found the history of the company very interesting and the way they presented it very cute, which is why I wanted to include it into my blog post.

I was lucky enough to be picked as a product tester by Douglas to review the following full-sized products:

  • Bumble and Bumble – surf foam wash shampoo
  • Bumble and Bumble – surf creme rinse conditioner
  • Bumble and Bumble – surf infusion texturizing spray

They came in a pretty ocean blue Douglas bag.

Of course I used the shampoo first, then conditioner, then the spray and let my hair air dry.
What noticed immediately was the very pleasant scent of all three products.

The shampoo and conditioner satisfied me right away. I will continue using them for sure.

For the infusion spray …..

Bumble and Bumble enlisted someone who knows a thing or two about making waves, Hawaii-based surfer and blogger Tara Michie (aka Ladyslider), to contribute to their social media campaign launching the newest member of the surf family. On April 20, she took over the brand’s Instagram and asked followers to create videos and take photos using the hashtag #BbSurfStories. The best ones were or still are featured on Bumble’s Facebook page, Instagram feed, and website.

The original surf spray is “making waves since 2001”. The shampoo and conditioner followed later on, as well as the new surf infusion spray.
I have heard a lot of good things about these products, especially the new improved surf infusion spray which is supposed to be a better, reinvented version of the surf spray (which is still available btw).

But what is the difference?

Let me tell you, compared to the original surf spray the surf infusion is almost a completely different product. Instead of salt and water, surf infusion’s formula is salt suspended in oil. Shake the bottle, spritz it on, and you’ve got beach waves without the crunch.

“surf infusion is less drying on coarse or color-treated hair types, and creates a smoother, softer wave,” says Laurent Philippon, global artistic director for Bumble and Bumble. “Many surfers already apply different oils to their hair before they hit the waves in an effort to protect their locks from sun and salt-water damage, and we felt it was time to bottle that.”

I am not 100% convinced by the infusion spray yet, I might have used to much, which seemed to be a mistake. Afterwards I have read that less is more, of course. So the next time I will use it I will use less product. I mistook the spray to enhance curls in a way the original spray might do  you know, the crunchy kind of curls. Like I said, that’s not what this spray is for.

Overall I am very happy with the majority of the products and I am sure I will get around to loving the infusion spray as well if I get a hold of how to use it properly ;)

Thanks again to Douglas for sending these products through, I really appreciate it and I loved testing the products for you.

Does anyone of you have experience with the infusion spray? Maybe you have some tips for me too?
I would really appreciate your help.

Now have a great night

Their core collection features fresh white packaging with rose-gold coloured detailing, adding the touch of luxe to our lives. It’s part of Nicka K’s ethos that your everyday make-up routine should be that bit more special. But it’s not just the packaging which is pretty unique either. Nicka K excels at creating new formulas for their cosmetics. In 2014 the company has launched a line of professional hair tools – everything from blow dryers to curling irons, flat irons, combs, brushes and other accessories.

They offered celebrity hair stylist Dennis Stokely a partnership for 2014, which consisted of demonstrating their Absolute Hot brand of hair appliances and accessories at the four largest hair shows in North America – New York, Chicago, Orlando and Las Vegas.
